ENVIRONMENT - ECOLOGY - EDUCATION
We hope to create a way for students at Penn State to learn lessons about our natural environment, our ethical and ecological understanding of that environment, and how to create educational experiences that foster that understanding. Therefore, we strive for personal and communal sustainability defined as “the possibility that humans and other life will flourish on Earth forever.” Join us in this flourishing.

An edible schoolyard?
This makes me think we need a garden at the College of Education more than anything? How do teachers lead when we are ignorant? We don't.
So let's follow in the best way we can. Let's learn!
Whenever I see a video on school gardens that takes place in the suburbs, I am reminded that these gardens need to move into the heart of our cities. I am often surprised at how much wasted space in cities is filled with concrete. These are the spaces in which gardens could flourish. I can even imagine using a space near the school, though not on school property, in which the community and the students can work, both to learn and to feed themselves. Rip it up!
